A Moonen Adventure
• Find five examples of mechanical weathering
and five examples of chemical weathering
outside and answer the following about each:
1. Where did you take this picture?
2. Mechanical or chemical weathering?
3. What process caused this to occur? (ice
wedging, animal burrows, plant growth, runoff,
oxidation, chemicals, wind, water, etc)
4. Do you see any erosion or deposition?
5. Do you see any evidence of soil formation?
6. Do you see any layers of soil?
7. Other observation.

• Stay on the school grounds in sight of the teacher.
• Do not go near windows or cars.
