Community Concerns/ Issue Exploration: (30mins)
- SAB Structure Meeting
o No one attended
- Other Concerns?
o Legacy Meeting Comments
 Leadership – should know how to lead meeting, how to be sensitive
 Training before school year starts so they have officers have
knowledge and know how to be sensitive
 Specific to Chair and Vice Chair, occurring during Fall Quarter
 Looking at different training models
o SAO Training?
 Agenda
 Being sent a week prior, add any amendments,
o There’s been times that members wanted to talk about
issues
o have opportunities to talk about them in more diplomatic
ways
 The agenda have always been open up to everyone in meetings
o SAB members are open to email and add things on agenda
o Not a lot of stuff are on the agenda as we come up with it
during the meeting
o Use google doc?
 Dr. Sheila puts her updates during the meeting

The layout has been the same every meeting
o Ya’ll have time to talk about community concerns
o A lot of flexibility in the agenda
 People just need to know that they can do that
 Welcome to email any updates
o Officers just facilitate meetings

o How do you talk to administration?
 Talk to faculty member department chair Dean of college
o Get the other test and compare
 Document everything as evidence

- IC Checkin
o How effective is it?
o Use to keep track how many people use it or not
 If people don’t check in, we have no record
 May think that there is no use, not valuable for funding
 Need to do a better job to be more effective
Vice President’s Corner: Updates? (30mins)
- IC Survey
o There is a student who wants to document the impact of the IC
 Survey for current and past IC students
 IC models for academic support
 Concerns of tutor to student ratio
 Perception of IC being used by nonEOP
 Dr. Sheila will offer incentives to do the survey
 Through campaign or catalyst
o Students develop a relationship with the IC tutors
 It’s more comfortable to students
 One to one connection
 Tutors are willing to go above and beyond
 They stay long hours
 The tutors help to succeed
o Other tutoring centers
 Clue is overcrowded with a lot of students
 Ode writing center takes a while to get an appointment
o Expanding the IC? – Need for more space
 State funds the building
 There are no funds to do it
 But the EOP celebration donates to the IC
 Only way to expand it if we tear down the building
 Put more workshops at the new ECC?
- Diversity Requirement Update
o Gave letter and met with CAS- had some negative views on the req
o Proposal will not pass the executive council
 Subcommittee  faculty of multicultural affairs
o Education campaign and push for it again
 Working with Marissa and Chas
 Need to make a list of questions that we need to fill out in order to move
the campaign forward
 Goal: when FALL begins, Betty and the Provost aim to create a taskforce
to campaign to the faculty senate
 Get it in the budget by May 30
 Amount – just five credits now
 There will be a review each year, hopefully change it in the future

Mural Placement Process
o Given Inventory of murals at the meeting
o Marissa will be put up the sheet at the ECC Construction
o Total: 24 murals – need to find space for all of them at the new building

o Forum will be on April 30th at the ECT (4pm-6pm)
 Asked us to keep it at 2 hours
 Format for forum

o 1 min for the rest of the candidates
