FY17 FUNDING REQUEST FOR A STRATEGIC INITIATIVE DUE BY 04/28/16 The FY17 Budget identified $500,000 in funding for ongoing and new strategic initiatives. The progress reports for the existing initiatives were reviewed by the Strategic Initiative Working Group and presentations were made to the Long Range Planning & Budget Committee (LRP&BC) of a few selected initiatives. As there has been several transitions at the Vice President and Dean level, the Cabinet will review all of the final and mid-term reports for decisions regarding continued funding and operationalizing initiatives. When the FY17 funding levels have been established for the existing initiatives the remaining funding for new FY17 initiatives will be communicated via email. The FY17 Strategic Initiative process is similar to the prior year process and will: Provide for a two fiscal year (6/1/16 to 05/31/18) funding cycle, where necessary/appropriate Provide funding for temporary staffing but will not fund new positions at the College Award small student research grants Facilitate review and prioritization to LRP&BC based on established rubric (see below) through a volunteer working group of LRP&BC members Provide constructive feedback to assist/improve the quality of future requests Submission, Review, and Approval Process Complete the form to submit an initiative funded by the pool (amount available—TBD) in the FY17 Budget, including external cost estimates. Submit the form to your Dean/Provost or Director/Vice President for review and signature. Submit the signed form and any supporting documentation to the Business Office. The Business Office will work with Facilities, Security, and OIT to obtain/confirm cost estimates for installation, infrastructure, and re-circulate forms for second approvals, as necessary. The Strategic Initiative Review Working Group of the LRP&BC will provide the Committee with a complete list of all submissions and those recommended for approval using the established rubric (see below). The LRP&BC will review and recommend initiatives to the Cabinet for approval and notify the requesting department of approval or provide feedback regarding any initiatives that were not funded. Please Note: Incomplete or late submissions will not be reviewed. Two (2) external cost estimates are recommended to support the initiative funding request. If your request is approved and it contains a purchase of goods and services of $25,000 or greater Anne Bezon in Purchasing (x 8049 or abezon@sjfc.edu) will need three (3) quotes to initiate the purchase. While their signature is not required prior to submission, Facilities, Security, and OIT are happy to help you with obtaining cost estimates, identifying established college standards, identifying FY17 Request for Strategic Initiative Funding Instructions Page 1 FY17 FUNDING REQUEST FOR A STRATEGIC INITIATIVE DUE BY 04/28/16 preferred vendors, etc. Once submitted, the Business Office will circulate the submissions to Facilities, Security, and OIT for formal review and signature.
