ABSTRACT This project work involves the design of a laboratory fire-tube steam boiler using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) technology. The designed boiler is intended for utilization in school laboratories, thereby enhancing students’ learning process. Appropriate thermodynamic formulas were used to compute material streams, heat transfer and operating parameters of the steam boiler. Computed boiler data were used to carry out a detailed design of various parts of the boiler. A Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (Autodesk 3ds Max) was used to create a 3D model of the steam boiler. The study has shown that a state-of-the-art design could be facilitated by employing both conventional and applied modeling technique approaches, which enables an efficient manufacturing process.
