ABSTRACT This is an empirical survey of a descriptive type carried out to investigate that nature and forms of deviant behaviour among the Students of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. Data for the study was generated from a sample of one hundred and twenty (120) respondents carefully selected through a multi-stage sampling technique. A total of 120 structured and unstructured questionnaires were administered to respondents and all were successfully completed and turned in for analysis. Simple frequency distribution was used for data analysis and chi-square statistical method was used to test the study’s hypotheses. The study revealed that peer group influence and socio-economic background of the Students are the most prominent factors responsible for deviant behaviour among the respondents. Based on these findings, this study therefore recommends that appropriate control measures should be put in place at the Nigerian higher learning institutions to curb the prevalence of deviant behaviour among students. 1
