Gordon W. Tanner
Experience
Gordon Tanner's practice includes secured lending, commercial transactions, and joint
ventures, with special experience with the newly revised UCC Article 9 and in the
agricultural and food industries. Gordon started working on the agricultural
amendments to Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code in 1990 when the
Permanent Editorial Board of the UCC established its Study Committee to determine
whether to make revisions. He served as co-chair of the ABA agricultural finance
subcommittee's task force that proposed changes to UCC Article 9 regarding
agriculture. He remained actively involved in the project throughout the drafting
process on a national level, making presentations before the NCCUSL Drafting
Committee, and writing and presenting papers to industry groups and the legal
community on the changes. Gordon has been a frequent speaker on UCC Article 9,
