Explanatory Note on the Review Process of TCH Award 1. All applications will be reviewed to ensure that they do not exceed the word limit and to ensure that the applicant is within the first four years from registration and is registered in the School of Natural Sciences. 2. If there are applications by students supervised or co-supervised by a member of the Committee, then that member of the Committee will not act in the assessment of all of the proposals for that round. The Chair of the Committee will nominate a member of academic staff from the relevant discipline to do the assessment. The member will be in attendance for the general discussion but will absent themselves for discussion on their own students. 3. Applications will be sent to the external assessor (Dr. Ruth Ramsay, UCC). 4. One week prior to the meeting of the Committee, assessors will return the marks under each of the three criteria. The final score will be converted to ranks. 5. A merit list, derived from the ranks will be available at the meeting of the Committee to guide discussion. 6. A record of decisions made for funding or non funded students will be recorded. 7. Feedback will be provided by the Chair to the students. 8. All decisions of the Committee will be final and not subject to appeal. 9.
