Support Services Program Prioritization Criteria Context: The program prioritization process is designed to ensure that all programs receiving university resources3 can clearly demonstrate the value and contribution of the program to achieving Vision 2010. Criteria for program prioritization: Criticality of the program to the essential operations5 of the University. Net program contribution o Direct cost6 of operating the program o Revenue (fees, grants, contracts, and other) Effective use of Indiana University Northwest resources7 o Are program services duplicated? o Are services collaborated with other programs? o Impact of changing technology on program External or internal demand for the program o Service to support academic and other programs o Measurements of individuals or programs served Impact of the program on the University currently and in the future o Potential impact on the University of this program? Operating Definitions Support Services Program A support services program is defined as non-credit-bearing activity or collection of activities that use resources to support the achievement of academic excellence1, student outcomes2, or other aspects of the Vision. 1 Love of ideas and achievement in learning, discovery, creativity and engagement (including scholarly/creative productivity). 2 Graduates prepared for lifelong learning, ethical practices, successful careers, and effective citizenship. Resources 3 Money, time, people, space, supplies and/or equipment Vision 4 Includes cultural discovery and learning, sustainable regional vitality, academic excellence, graduate preparedness, diversity, environment, interpersonal, and community-related goals, Student-Centered Principles, as articulated in the Vision. Essential Operations 5 Services critical to recruitment, development or retention of all members of the campus community Direct Cost 6 All costs directly associated with the delivery of the program, which includes the following: salaries, fringe benefits, travel, supplies and general expenses, software, and capital equipment. Effective Use of Resources 7 Extent to which courses, activities or initiatives appear in more than one program at IUN as opposed to demonstrating collaborative use of limited resources. Extent to which programs offered at IUN and other institutions demonstrate collaborative use of limited resources. Extent to which management and the delivery of the program is the most effective use of Indiana University Northwest resources, including analysis of program productivity against impact and outcomes.
