In keeping with the University's College of Education mission, this program provides professional care to children from infancy through age five in diverse, educational experiences. MISSION The mission of the ISU Early Childhood Education Center is to provide opportunities for teacher training, research and service to persons within the university setting and in the community at large. The ISU Early Childhood Education Center demonstrates quality early childhood education programs for young children and their parents with a commitment to cultural diversity. PHILOSOPHY AND CURRICULUM The ECEC implements a developmentally appropriate curriculum based on the view that children learn best when they are actively exploring a carefully constructed environment in the company of loving, professionally prepared teachers. Our curriculum follows the Indiana Department of Education’s Foundations for Young Children, which supports the use of hands on learning. OUR PROGRAM We are ACCREDITED by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and licensed by the Department of Family and Children Services of the State of Indiana. The program is affiliated with the ISU Bayh College of Education and the department Elementary, Early and Special Education> providing quality care for children ranging from 6 weeks - 5 years of age. We are located in the Maehling Terrace, University Apartments at 200 Farrington Street - Unit 2(click here for directions). READ ABOUT THE ECEC'S NATIONAL ACCREDITATION AT ISU NEWS PURPOSE ISU's ECEC is designed as a comprehensive child care/child development center to serve the children, 6 weeks to 5 years, of ISU students, faculty, staff members, and community families. An additional feature of its design is to provide an exemplary child care program for academic research and training. This program is designed for children whose parents/guardians have work or school obligations.
