Director Purpose Purpose: Conduct qualification visits with key major prospects and to manage new prospect/donor relationships. Responsible for high-end prospective donors and participate in identification of potential leadership and major donors. Evaluate those identified. Ensure proper recognition is given to those who donate. Essential Functions Function 1: Make personal contact with individuals, corporate representatives, and foundation officers as appropriate for building relationships and securing philanthropic support. 50 % Time Function 2: Manage a portfolio of prospects from all constituencies of The University of Texas at Arlington including alumni, advisory council members, faculty/staff, and friends. 15 % Time Function 3: Work with the Associate Vice President of Development to develop support materials such as solicitation letters, collateral material, and formal proposals. 10 % Time Function 4: Work with faculty and administration to determine funding priorities and potential funding sources for various academic programs. 10 % Time Function 5: Work collaboratively with annual giving and planned giving efforts to secure gifts in support of the University priorities and mission. 10 % Time Function 6: Perform other duties as assigned. 5 % Time Function 7: % Time Function 8: % Time Marginal/Incidental Functions Marginal/Incidental Functions: Other functions as assigned. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 to 7 years experience in major gift fundraising and with a solid track record of securing gifts at major level. Have a demonstrated ability to design and implement effective cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies; a very strong work ethic supported by commitment and follow-through, and a strong commitment for University and School's mission and values; superior communication skills with ability to speak credibly about higher education and the aspirations of the University with clarity, succinct and effectiveness in written and oral presentations; must travel extensively to participate regularly in events and activities; experience working with volunteers; the ability to manage complex relationships and be a proven collaborator with teamwork skills; ability to work in a system that emphasizes measurable objectives, including set goals for major gifts activity and dollars raised; knowledge of gift planning instruments and to market them to alumni and other prospective donors is desired. Preferred Qualifications: Preferred qualifications Over 7 years' experience in major gift fundraising with a proven track record of success securing gifts at the six-figure level and higher; experience managing a fundraising staff and volunteers; prior work history at a higher education institution; experience with capital campaigns; the ability to work with a diverse student body, staff, and constituents is preferred.
