Purpose
Purpose:
Provides administrative support to Advancement Services. Plays a key role in keeping the
University's alumni/donor database up-to-date. Responsible for managing/processing a large
volume of updates daily, producing routine reports and data files, processing corp. matching gift
requests, and supervising student workers.
Essential Functions
Function 1:
Perform record updates in the constituent database (Raiser's Edge) as requested by alumni,
parents and friends of the University; manage returned mail and ensure the prompt processing of
address updates in Raiser's Edge; manage record updates requested by Office of Development
staff and others from within the University; and review and update VIP groups in Raiser's Edge
regularly.

Function 2:
Support the Senior Director of Development for Advancement Services and the Advancement
Services team by composing and distributing routine correspondence including letters, reports
and various memoranda, and fielding questions for the Senior Director regarding gift handling
and acceptance.
20 % Time
Function 3:
Produce and distribute routine reports as requested; assist the Senior Director for Advancement
Services and the Director of Advancement Services Technology in producing data files as
requested by Office of Development Staff and others across campus.
15 % Time
Function 4:
Hire, train and supervise five part-time student workers. Manage the front desk/reception area
schedule.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with 1 year of upper level secretarial experience OR high school diploma or
equivalent with 5 years of administrative, secretarial, and clerical experience. Applicants must

Preferred Qualifications:
3 years experience in an administrative position with at least 1 year experience in a development
and fundraising, university, or non-profit environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel
and other common office systems. Familiarity with the dynamics of higher education and
working knowledge of Raiser's Edge or other donor-based software. Ability to handle multiple
tasks in a busy office with a professional demeanor. Ability to prioritize workload for timely
completion of important tasks.
