Library Assistant III Purpose Purpose: The Library Assistant III is primarily responsible for providing quality paraprofessional Reserve services with a strong customer orientation. Manages access to the various reserve materials in all branches of the library. This includes books, print reserves, and electronic reserves. Acts as a leader in effecting chang Essential Functions Function 1: Responsible for day to day management of the Central, SEL, and AFA Reserves. Performs searches for complete citations for articles and book chapters submitted for reserves then creates the citations for the items submitted. 20 % Time Function 2: Performs searches for UTA E-Journals and databases for online articles submitted for reserves. 15 % Time Function 3: Scans articles and book chapters for processing as print and e-reserves. 15 % Time Function 4: 5 percent - Maintains procedures manual for Reserves and keeps it up to date. 5percent Performs the end-of-semester reserves removal for all branches of the library. 10 % Time Function 5: 4 percent - Coordinates the daily, weekly, and monthly workloads for reserves. 3 percent Continually shifts and shelf-reads the active reserves material. 3 percent - Submits monthly Reserves statistical and status reports as required. 3 percent - Conducts periodic reviews of the Reserve web pages and submits updates-revisions to the proper department. 13 % Time Function 6: 4 percent - Assists in developing policies and procedures for the unit. 3 percent - Ensures that necessary supplies are on hand. 5 percent - Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates work study students. 12 % Time Function 7: May be required to work some evening, weeknight, weekend and holiday hours. 5 % Time Function 8: Acts as a reserves liaison advocate for our faculty and students. Provides official reserves guidelines to faculty. Answers faculty questions on copyright issues. Provides reserves support for the Distance Education-Academic Partnership courses. Answers student?s questions that are received on the phone and over the web and via email. Helps trouble shoot reserves access problems for both the DE and the traditional students. 10 % Time Marginal/Incidental Functions Marginal/Incidental Functions: Must have ability to work in a team environment. Qualifications Required Qualifications: High School graduation or equivalent. Required qualifications include. Five years of library or related experience, including two years of Library Assistant II level. A Bachelor?s degree substitutes for two years of required experience. Sixty credit hours of college substitutes for one year of experience. Must pass spelling test administered by the Office of Human Resources Management and Development. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated good judgment and problem resolution skills. Supervisory experience. Good communication skills. Project management skills. Ability to manage and work as part of a team. Demonstrated use of technology. Customer service experience.
