Purpose
Purpose:
Manages and supervises the Library's physical and virtual service points across a 24/5
environment and provides extraordinary customer service in support of users' needs. Has

Essential Functions
Function 1:
Serves as shift supervisor and monitors the library facility and reports equipment, security, and
repair needs through efficient communication. Serves as an ambassador of the Library by
disseminating accurate information in a clear and courteous manner to inform users of Library
and University policies and procedures through direct interaction with users.

Function 2:
Provides extraordinary customer service and functions of circulation, reference, technology
support, and outreach as a member of User Engagement Services' various service points.

Function 3:
Engage in promotion of library services and materials through exhibits and outreach and
recruiting events. Participates in at least two service excellence teams within the department and
contributes to planning and the establishment of policy and procedures within the team.

Function 4:
Acts as an advocate for users' needs and concerns and suggests improvements in services that
benefit patrons and/or staff. Interviews, hire, and train student employees, LAI or LAII. Also,
responsible for performance appraisals and discharges, if necessary. Counsels, coaches and
teaches staff and student employees.

Function 5:
Attends meetings, gathers data and writes reports for distribution and/or presentations for
administrative, instructional and informational purposes. Represents the department through
effective discussion and oral and written presentation; contributes to planning and the
establishment of policies and procedures.

Function 6:
Acts as a project manager for projects and events that includes establishing routines, priorities
and workflow, and verifying work. Serves as liaison to academic Student Affairs; Residential
Life, Undergraduate Recruitment, and academic success partners.

Provides leadership for designated leadership area. Serves on library, university, and committees
and organizations. Participates in professional growth activities

Other functions as assigned. General supervision from a Librarian or Library Assistant IV. The
position has decision making authority within the limits of routines and their applications.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
High School graduation or GED. Five years related experience, two years of which must be at
least at the Library Assistant II level. Sixty credit hours of college substitutes for one year of
experience; a Bachelor's degree substitutes for two years of required experience.
