Purpose
Purpose:
Responsible for maintaining a dynamic web presence for the UT Arlington College of
Engineering. Designs, develops, implements and manages complex web sites and
microsites for departments and units within the College of Engineering.
Essential Functions
Function 1:
Maintain the College of Engineering's website to keep it dynamic, current and
relevant. Secures appropriate approvals as necessary.
25 % Time
Function 2:
Consults with users to determine web needs. Recommends, provides and or
coordinates viable solutions appropriate for an institution of higher education.
10 % Time
Function 3:
Designs web pages, ensuring an outstanding user experience through professional
design, appropriate content, and smooth and logical navigation.
15 % Time
Function 4:
Maintains the College's website within the Cascade Server content management
system.
25 % Time
Function 5:
Writes code using Websphere, HTML, Dynamic HTML, PHP, Java, JavaScript, Visual
Basic, Perl or Common Gateway Interface.
5 % Time
Function 6:
Responds to problems or questions regarding College websites and helps to address
server performance issues.
5 % Time
Function 7:
Creates digital graphics for sites. Researches new methods, techniques, and
software for web design.
10 % Time
Function 8:
Compiles and analyzes website utilization statistics
5 % Time

Other functions as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field. Two years of advanced design and programming
experience, including one year of web development experience. Experience with
content management systems. Applicants must include in their online resume the
following information: 1)Employment history: name of company, period employed
(from month/year to month/year), job title, summary of job duties and 2)
Education: school name, degree type, major, graduated or not, and hours completed
if not graduated. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may
be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Cascade Server strongly preferred. Strong visual and verbal
communications skills, including experiences with direct client interface. Working
knowledge and demonstrated practical ability in coding solutions such as XHTML,
PHP, JavaScript, and CSS. Mastery of Photoshop, Fireworks, Flash, HTM authoring
programs such as Dreamweaver, and other leading design programs relevant to
Web, motion, and online development. Understanding of contemporary web design
trends as well as the techniques and the technical and functional processes required
to execute formats for integrated usage across Web and electronic media.
