THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT ARLINGTON ADMINISTRATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL (NON-TEACHING) JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Assistant to the Dean for Information Technologies, College of Business Administration CODE: 0338 FUNCTION: Manage, coordinate and supervise information technology (IT) equipment, personnel, and processes involved in the delivery of stakeholders’ services. Provide technical and administrative direction to meet the IT needs of the College of Business Administration (CoBA). DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Select, train and supervise operations and user services management staff. Evaluate and maintain standards for operations personnel. Develop and implement operations policies and procedures. Evaluates ad implement information and instructional resources for administrative, teaching and research needs. Maintain inventory control. Perform overall system administration for CoBA server including disaster recovery. Supervise access and security issues. Establish communication with other on-site and off-site information systems. Coordinate with Academic Computing Services (ACS) for system-wide user applications and services. Design and implement training programs. ACCOUNTABILITY: Reporting Relationships Reports to: Dean, College of Business Administration and Director, Office of Information and Instructional Resources Supervises: INTERNAL CONTROL: Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that department operations are effective and efficient, department assets are safeguarded, department financial information is reliable, and the department complies with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. WORKING CONDITIONS: Occasional evening hours based on demand for services. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in Management Information Systems or related area or the equivalent combination of education and experience in the field. Comprehensive knowledge of the capabilities of electronic computers and related auxiliary equipment. Requires extensive knowledge of lab and user services management in an AACSB accredited environment. Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects. Must have above-average written and verbal communications skills. Comprehensive supervisory skills which should include problem and conflict resolution skills, and knowledge of effective team development.
