THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT ARLINGTON ADMINISTRATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL (NON-TEACHING) JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Associate Dean, College of Business Administration CODE: 0336 FUNCTION: Oversees day-to-day internal academic operations of the College of Business Administration. Acts on behalf of the Dean during his/her absence. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Acts as the primary liaison to the students of the College for student organizations, suggestions, complaints, and grievance. Develops and administers new policies and procedures. Participates in long and short range program planning for all CoBA departments. Ensures compliance with University policies and AACSB accreditation policies. Participates in some development activities. ACCOUNTABILITY REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS REPORTS TO: Dean of College of Business Administration SUPERVISES: Senior Secretary, Director of CoBA Graduate Business Programs, Coordinator of CoBA Undergraduate Studies, Director of CoBA Ph.D. Program INTERNAL CONTROL: Responsible for the design, execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that department operations are effective and efficient, department assets are safeguarded, department financial information is reliable, and the department complies applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures. WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal business hours, but will vary with demand. Occasional evening hours meeting with alumni, community members. Some travel required, generally within the United States, for conferences or association meetings. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Terminal degree in a business-related discipline, preferably senior faculty member status (associate or full professor.) Demonstrated success in increasing academic administrative responsibilities. Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all constituencies. Must possess the ability to build strong work teams. Strong commitment to purpose and goals of public higher education.
