In Conversation World Metrology Day 2015 A conversation with Dr Barry Inglis and Dr Bronwyn Evans Facilitated by Dr Angela Samuel, International Relations, NMI The National Measurement Institute invites you to a breakfast forum to commemorate World Metrology Day 2015. We are also using this occasion to celebrate the re-election of Dr Barry Inglis, NMI’s inaugural CEO, as President of the International Committee for Weights & Measures (CIPM). Barry is the first Australian and only the second non-European to hold this position. NMI’s Angela Samuel will facilitate a discussion with Barry and Dr Bronwyn Evans, CEO of Standards Australia. The discussion will try to draw out strategies whereby measurement and the broader standards and conformance (S&C) infrastructure can help address the challenges faced at global, regional and national levels in, for example, the health, energy, environment and food sectors. These priority areas are targeted by the government’s recent Industry Growth Centres initiative and we hope the discussion will stimulate your thinking – and encourage you to pose questions yourself – on how measurement can support this initiative in strengthening links between Australian researchers and industries in key sectors of the economy.
