ME participant to theis area in 7/2006. I traveled to Neustift for scouting purposes in
7/2008 and feel very comfortable in this area. Each time the same hotel was utilized, the Hotel Bellevue.

Fly from either Boston or New York to Innsbruck, Austria. Board chartered bus at airport to hotel in Neustift, Austria. This will be a woman's trip designed at the request of a group of 9 women who have been hiking together for the past 2 decades. We will have
7 exciting days in the beautiful Stubai Alps, surrounded by magnificent alpine peaks and meadows. Each day an intermediate to advanced intermediate hike will be offered. The first days hikes for acclimatization at lower levels, then using cable cars to start higher, at the slow "alpine guide's pace". We will hike to 4-5 alpine huts for a superb lunch each day, and enjoy some of the most beautiful views in Europe. All hikes are on trails well maintained by Austrian and German hiking clubs. One day is an excursion by cable cars to the "Top of the Tyrol" and Austria's highest restaurant. Tourist cards provide for 5 days unlimited transportation in the Stubai valley and into Innsbruck. One day to enjoy
Innsbruck (entrance fees are not included), sample itinerary is provided. Chartered bus return from hotel to airport for return flights to USA. Leader and coleader will accompany participants back to airport.
In Neustift, Austria we will be staying at the very pleasant 3 star Hotel Bellevue. Our hosts are english speaking and arrange our tourist cards, taxis to one remote hut

(required on many U.S. federal lands and national parks) trailhead. There will be no language barrier for participants. Each hotel guest room has private bath/shower; hotel has 3 lounge areas, indoor sun room, gratis computer, outdoor deck area and a large wellness area inside.
The Hotel Bellevue will provide a full buffet breakfast and 2 menu choices for the 4 star dinners. One of our hosts is a chef par excellence. Lunches are not provided, but can be obtained at the alpine huts or participants can buy food from local stores in Neustift.
We will utilize local valley bus to get to trail heads, one day will involve taking using a local taxi service to access a remote trail head

The participants must be able to demonstrate that they can hike in the Alps. A guideline for hiking abilities will be supplied with the prospectus so participants can rate themselves. Leader/coleader will follow up with AMC local chapter contacts to see if participants will be a good fit for this trip. Phone calls will be used if uncertain about abilities and being a good group player.

Talks on Austrian conservation methods in the Alps while hiking, ie:timber conservation and management, avalanche control, glacier protection to slow melting process. Education on Austrian flowers, animals, trees, on altitude and acclimatization procedures, hiking safety in the Alps and "alpine guide's hiking pace". The main recreation will be hiking, Tyrolean Folk music and dancing.
Optional sightseeing in Innsbruck for 2 days, leaders will supply sample itinerary/sightseeing info. One of the hosts is also a mountaineering guide and gives an excellent overview and history of the area and his historic family
(Hofer).

Intermediate to advanced hiking skills required of all participants. Health conditions will dictate what level participant will be allowed to hike. Must be a group player and not an individualist.

For backcountry location the leaders will summon help from the nearest alpine hut and the leaders will carry a cell phone. Neustift Police and Mountain Rescue #052262212
(located near our hotel). For backcountry and out of foreign country, AMC Evacuation and Repatriation insurance will pay for the evacuation.
In Neustift there are 2 doctors, one is located across from the hotel. Good quality hospitals in nearby Innsbruck. Hotel Bellevue, phone #011-43-5226-2636 (from USA) will supply medical phone numbers.

Euro is used in Austria, have budgeted an exchange rate of $1.65 per euro due to current vlatility of euro/dollar. Have also budgeted a contingency of 8% to offset increases in the exchange rate.

Cancellation policy
What will be your cancellation policy for the participants?
If you cancel after being accepted for the trip, $50 is non-refundable. But if you cancel after May 1st, 2014, minimally $200 is nonrefundable, if (and only if) another person takes your place. We will establish a waiting list. Should another person replace you, you will be charged only the $200 cancellation fee. However, your cancellation shall not raise the cost of the trip to any of the participants or trip leaders. Thus if you cancel and are not replaced, you will forfeit the $200 plus the per capita expenses already incurred and any other unpaid expenses for which the trip cannot obtain a refund. You
Minimum numbers
Will you still run the trip if you do not get the minimum number? may forfeit the entire trip fee. Flight tickets once purchased become your property and are generally non-refundable. We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance. Information on a company recommended by the AMC will be sent to you.
