Board chartered bus at airport to hotel in Neustift, Austria. We will have 13 exciting days in the beautiful Stubai Alps, surrounded by magnificent alpine peaks and meadows. Each day an intermediate to an advanced intermediate hike will be offered. The first 3 days' hikes for acclimatization at lower levels, then using cable cars to start higher, at the slow "alpine guide's pace". We will hike to 7 alpine huts for a superb lunch each day, and enjoy some of the most beautiful views in Europe. All hikes are on trails well maintained by Austrian and German hiking clubs. One day is an excursion by cable cars to the "Top of the Tyrol" and Austria's highest restaurant. Tourist cards provide for 10 days unlimited transportation in the Stubai valley and into Innsbruck. Two days to enjoy Innsbruck (entrance fees are optional), sample itinerary is provided. Chartered bus return from hotel to airport for return flights to USA. Leader and coleader will accompany participants back to Munich airport, then leader will travel by train to Zurich to await the arrival of participants for Major Excursion to Zermatt, Switzerland for hiking. There will be a two night stay in Zurich between Major Excursions. In Neustift, Austria we will be staying at the very pleasant 3 star Hotel Bellevue. Our hosts are english speaking and arrange our tourist cards, taxis to one remote hut (hutte). There will be no language barrier for participants. Each hotel guest room has private bath/shower; hotel has 3 lounge areas, indoor sun room, gratis computer, outdoor deck area and a large wellness area inside. Education on Austrian flowers, animals, trees, on altitude and acclimatization procedures, hiking safety in the Alps and "alpine guide's pace". The main recreation will be hiking, Tyrolean Folk music and dancing. Optional sightseeing in Innsbruck for 2 days, leaders will supply sample itinerary. One of our hosts is also a mountaineering guide and gives an excellent overview and history of the area and his historic family (Hofer). Have also budgeted a contingency of 8% to offset increases in the exchange rate. N/A $1000 initial deposit Payment #2 $1000 due on March 1st,2010 Payment #3 $396 due on April 14th, 2010 If you cancel after being accepted for the trip, $50 is non-refundable. But if you cancel after March 1st, 2010, minimally $500 is nonrefundable, if (and only if)another person takes your place. We will establish a waiting list. should another person replace you, you will be charged only the $500 cancellation fee. However, your cancellation shall not raise the cost of the trip to any of the participants or the leaders. Thus if you cancel and are not replaced, you will forfeit the $500 plus the per capita expenses already incurred and any other unpaid expenses for which the trip cannot obtain a refund.
