標題: Reflection on English Teaching
There are different models and highlighted purposes toward learning English around
this global village, such as EFL, ESL, EYL, CLIL, and ELF etc. Each model has its
own target and learning environment.

The question is which one is best for you, and
On my personal opinion, every model and highlighted purposes
of English learning model contains its advantages and disadvantages.
Among those
models and purposes, I would like emphasize on the ELF because this English
learning target and purpose is close to my current living environment and working
condition.
The ELF framework focus on the English skills that acquired by non-
native speaker to understand and negotiate different people. For me, as an aircraft
technician, have to require a certain level English ability to conduct my daily
maintenance tasks, like reading technical manual, communicating with technical
support, and writing maintenance documents since aviation industry is an
international business, it needs a general language to communicate each other.
As
for the other English learning models, it all depends on the different kind of needs and
perspectives for English learners.
With regard to the global English as an innovation part, there are two adopters:
early adopters and later adopters. The early adopters learn English because of job
market or competitiveness in their own countries.
I agree with the later adopters
theory because it emphasizes on English has become an essential and a key basic for
everyone, and no longer concentrates on the job market or competitive advantage.
On the recent trend of language learning, it not only just relies on English, but it
also shows other languages have gradually popped up to be learnt around the world,
like Mandarin and Spanish.
We have to carefully manage the changes in order to
lead to great success of all human beings in this world.
