Description of the Initiative (in less than 10 lines), including, as appropriate elements on size and

scale of the initiative:
Most people know how to eat healthy. In everyday life, however, other factors drive eating behavior: the palatability of food, habits, and social accompaniment, for example. As eating decisions are often intuitive, very subtle environmental cues can influence consumption too. They determine which eating-related motive gets activated at the point of decision or during consumption.
Results:
Thin, human-like sculptures by Alberto Giacometti were shown to reduce the intake of chocolate –leading consumption in a healthy direction. A first aim of the project was to examine the underlying processes concerning this Giacometti effect. We found the cue to activate a weight-related schema and to be processed automatically. Based on these findings, an environmental health cue (instead of
“weight cue”), which fosters the intake of healthy food, is searched, and its underlying processes including habituation and awareness effects will be examined.
Methods: Experimental laboratory and field studies.
