A great training agenda was provided which included a Federal Update with Marianna Deeken as well as Chuck Hirman with the Direct Loan Program. Fall training is underway with the 2010 NT4CM training. OASFAA partners with OUS, the Oregon University System to provide training sessions throughout the state for high school counselors and mentors. Six sessions were scheduled throughout the month of October. Our FA101 one day training is scheduled for January 12, 2011 to be held at Reed College in Portland. This hands on full day workshop is an excellent opportunity for individuals new to financial aid to get the details on how financial aid eligibility is calculated and packaged. The Annual Conference committee has been hard at work planning our annual conference scheduled for February 2-4 at Salishan Lodge on the beautiful Oregon coast. The conference theme is “Financial Aid: The Next Generation”. Our conference chairs are doing a wonderful job of creating an agenda with sessions relevant to each of the different sectors within our financial aid community. We will be partnering with the Oregon Student Assistance Commission and Nela for College Goal Oregon, which is held on Saturdays in our state. January dates to be finalized soon. We finalized our brochure about OASFAA as an association to share with our constituents and state financial aid professionals to encourage them to join the association. The final version was completed by Sue Shogren and we are grateful for her commitment to helping us complete this project. We established a Volunteer Coordinator position to assist folks in getting involved with OASFAA. Fund development continues to be challenging for the association. We may not meet our anticipated income of $12, 800. We do have commitments from several vendors at this time. Current membership is 245, which is 81% of the total from last year. 70% of last years members renewed. We are doing active solicitations to schools and past members to encourage them to join the association.
