Abstract
• That chemical reactions proceed faster
using microwave irradiation as opposed to
using conventional heating.
• The microwave irradiation and demonstrated
its advantage in reducing reaction time and
avoiding racemization of PLLA in hydrolysis.
Materials
PLLA
Mn:9.4× 104 .
Optical purity of the L- lactate unit:99.8%ee.
Melting point:181℃.
Pellet size:ψ 2.0 × 3.2 mm.
Conclusions
• Microwave irradiation can make hydrolysis of PLLA
dramatically faster compared to conventional
heating.
• That using microwave irradiation for the
hydrolysis of PLLA is effective for shortening the
reaction time and also for obtaining L-lactic acid
of higher optical purity.
• That microwave irradiation is useful for the
chemical recycling of all kinds of polyesters, and
will be used industrially to improve the
efficiency of chemical recycling.
