Description of the Initiative (in less than 10 lines), including, as appropriate elements on size and

scale of the initiative:
The research programme, led conjointly by INRA and CIRAD, aims at developping
innovative lines for global food security. The objectives are guided by four main
questions:
How does food security governance affect farming practices and land use?
In what way do food transitions – how we consume – affect the equation between
food requirements, farming practices and land use?
How do changes in agricultural production practices and systems affect food
transitions and access to food for households?
How do agricultural production practices interact with the efficiency and
sustainability of agrifood processes, particularly as regards losses and wastage?
Results: Around 30 different research projects on going.
