LCSC WORK SCHOLARS PROGRAM AGREEMENT – Worksite Agreement Upon entering the LCSC Work Scholar Program, all students and worksites sign an Enrollment Agreement outlining the basic commitments of the student, the worksite and the program concerning the required participation. This agreement is completed one time and remains in effect for the entire period of enrollment in the program. THE WORKSITE, as a program partner, agrees to: a) Provide no fewer than ten (10) hours a week of meaningful and necessary work throughout the term and adhere to the work schedule agreed upon with selected Work Scholar. b) Participate in the Work Scholar Program’s orientation at the start of each semester. c) Complete Worksite Experience Evaluation for academic year positions. d) Meet monthly with Work Scholar to discuss performance measures. e) Meet with Work Scholar and Academic Advisor each semester at four weeks, mid-term, 12 weeks and end of semester to ensure that both academic and employment progress is being made at a satisfactory level. f) Contribute a cash match of $______________ to the Work Scholars program per Work Scholar per semester g) For off-campus worksites only: I ______________(initial here) understand that the Work Scholar placed with my workplace is covered by workers compensation up to the average of 10 hours per week during the 17 week semester. If I choose to employ the Work Scholar an additional 8 hours per week I understand that I will need to compensate the employee at or above the appropriate minimum wage. Additionally, as a private employer overseeing and directing job duties performed by this Work Scholar, I will need to carry liability insurance. THE STUDENT, in accepting admission to the Work Scholars Program, agrees to: a) Participate in employment at an approved Work Scholar position for the duration of their enrollment in the program. b) Work no fewer than ten (10) hours a week throughout the term and adhere to the work schedule required by the position and arranged with the supervisor. c) Secure approval for absences from work and arrange to make up hours in advance of the absence, if possible. d) Immediately notify the supervisor of any unexpected absence or tardiness using a method of communication pre-approved and arranged with the supervisor. e) Complete a bi-weekly timesheet, turn in a signed and approved copy to the Program Office upon completion of the bi-weekly period f) Strive to meet duties, responsibilities, and standards required by the position as defined by the supervisor. g) Complete Work Scholar Experience Evaluation for academic year positions. h) Participate in at least one community service project each semester. i) Participate in the Work Scholar Program’s orientation at the start of each semester j) Schedule and meet monthly with work supervisors to discuss performance measures. k) Schedule and meet with work supervisor and academic advisor each semester at four weeks, mid-term, 12 weeks and end of semester to ensure that both academic and employment progress is being made at a satisfactory level. l) Maintain full-time enrollment status as defined by Lewis-Clark State College standards throughout his/her participation in the Work Scholars Program. m) Participate in other Work Scholars Program activities as assigned. THE WORK SCHOLARS PROGRAM agrees to: a) b) c) d) e) f) g) h) Provide each registered Work Scholar with opportunities for work‐learning‐service experiences fostering the goals of the Work Scholars Program and Lewis-Clark State College. Provide each registered Work Scholar student a Work Scholars Program scholarship, applied directly to the student's tuition and fees for that academic term. In addition, a small stipend will be awarded in biweekly payments. Offer opportunities for advancement in skill and responsibility as allowed by needs of Work Scholar position. Conduct, using the “Work Scholar Evaluation,” individual student work evaluations throughout the term of employment which will be used to develop and expand student progression in their assigned position. Provide opportunity for students to evaluate their Work Scholar experience by completing the “Work Scholars Program Evaluation.” Conduct assessment at the supervisor, department, and program level to improve the educational and institutional value of the program. Provide a labor grievance procedure whereby complaints can be resolved. Make available, in writing, any change in procedures for the implementation of any of the conditions of this agreement. WORKSITE STATEMENT By signing, I understand and agree to the conditions set forth in this agreement. In addition, I am aware that failure to meet the requirements and conditions of this agreement can result in suspension from the program. Also, I understand that this agreement is effective until further notice, and will be placed in my Work Scholars Worksite file.
