Course Description:
A study of the fundamentals of drafting, including residential building construction and
common architectural drawings. Topics include drafting equipment, lettering, line value,
symbolizing, dimensioning, projections, sectioning, pictorial drawing, architectural
representation, and the nature and scope of the drafting professional.
Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Appropriately use the different line types and line weights as a means of
communication graphically.
Accurately dimension drawings used in standard construction related
drafting practice.
Demonstrate an understanding of the theories, methods, selection and use
of appropriate scales to develop the components of a complete set of
working drawings.
Identify and draw the carious material symbols used in standard
construction related drafting practice.
Demonstrate the proper mechanics, identification, and selection of
appropriate styles and sizes of hand lettering used in standard construction
related drafting practice.
Use the standard architectural representation techniques used in
construction related drafting practice.
Describe the contents and layout conventions of the components of a
complete set of working drawings.

**A COMPLETE SET OF WORKING DRAWINGS IS REQUIRED TO PASS AEC
120 AND MOVE ON TO THE THIRD SEMESTER.
