1. Have you ever taken an intelligence test? What was it like? What did you
think of it?
2. Would you want to know your IQ score? Would it be a self-fulfilling
prophesy?
3. Do you think there are different types of intelligence? Have you ever had a
friend that was “book smart” but had no “street smarts”, or did not understand
other people’s feelings?
4. Could a person be creative, but do poorly in school?
5. Do you think schools can increase creativity, or is it something you are born
with?
6. Do you think some occupations are better suited for different types of
intelligence? Examples?
7. If we can engineer smart mice, should we engineer smart humans? Think of
the social and ethical implications.
8. Would you want to try to give your child a higher intelligence by playing tapes
of music or the alphabet on mother’s tummy before birth, or putting colorful
activities in the crib, or going to head start and pushing the child academically?
9. To what extent do you think intelligence in inherited from your parents, or can
it be increased with better nutrition, or more reading and practice?
10. Should, or can, schools teach creativity? How would you grade it? If you
have a set of grading criteria, is it no longer “creative”?
