Students will learn to effectively research career options using a variety of job search strategies, write targeted resumes and cover letters, practice successful interviewing techniques and develop a comprehensive portfolio. Finally, students will learn how to effectively utilize the tools developed in this course as they progress to the next phase of their career development. Upon successfully completing this course, students will: Identify or deepen understanding of their chosen industry/occupation Articulate personal strengths and transferrable skills relevant to chosen career Develop effective cover letters and resumes, portfolios and practice interviewing skills. Increase understanding of how to leverage the tools developed in this course when applying for internships, employment opportunities or when transferring to other educational institutions Regular attendance and active participation both in class and in online discussion board throughout the quarter. Successful and timely completion of course readings and assignments.
