COURSE
DESCRIPTION
CWE 101 is designed to be an active/experiential learning community using group discussions
and shared information. Students will learn to effectively research career options using a variety
of job search strategies, write targeted resumes and cover letters, practice successful
interviewing techniques and develop a comprehensive portfolio. Finally, students will learn how
to effectively utilize the tools developed in this course as they progress to the next phase of their
career development.

Develop effective cover letters, resumes, portfolios and practice interviewing skills.
Increase understanding of how to leverage the tools developed in this course when
applying for internships, employment opportunities or when transferring to other
educational institutions




Regular attendance and active participation both in class and in online discussions
Online discussions require one original post and 2 detailed responses.
Thorough and timely completion of course readings and assignments.

Note: The instructional week for this course begins on Wednesdays. Work will be assigned on
Wednesday and will be due the following Monday before noon unless otherwise indicated by
Instructor. Assignments will be marked down 10% for each day late. Assignments will not be
accepted 4 days after the date due.
Grades will be calculated as follows:
 Homework (credit/no credit)
