Hello everyone – Welcome to your General Psychology course. We will have fun!
You will be able to access the Canvas class website the weekend before course starts (after the
registered students have been put into the class shell).
To log into your PSYC&100 course, go to: canvas.northseattle.edu. Then, put in your student ID number
for “User Name”, and the first six letters of your last name (repeat if needed to get six letters). On the
website, you will find the syllabus along with instructor created videos (recorded in a live class), Power
Points, diagrams and study guides for each chapter along with the quizzes for the course.
After you are in the Canvas website:
1. Download, print out, and read the entire syllabus.
A daily outline for the entire course is on the last page of the syllabus.
2. Go to the “Start Here” file and listen to all the instructor created videos. Pay particular attention to
the “Register for Psychology Launch Pad”, and the “Using Psychology Launch Pad” videos. These walk
you step-by-step through getting the authorization code to register for and use the accompanying
website. This website is separate from the North Seattle College Canvas website, and will give you the
professional videos used in the course.
Welcome to the class.

Answers to common questions:
1. Do you have room for me in your class?
You can see if there is space available in a class by going to NSCC home page > Quarterly Class
Schedule > Desired quarter > Department > Course Name (specific class).
2. Will you overload me into your class?
Overloads, if any, will be taken in order from the waiting list. The college automatically puts
students into the class from the waiting list if previously enrolled students drop. You may add yourself
to the waiting list through registration. It is best to register early to assure yourself a place in the class.
3. I need the financial aid attendance verification. How do I get it?
You no longer need attendance verification.
4. I am a tuition waiver student. Can you save a space for me?
I can’t save a space for you. Tuition waiver students may register after the sixth day of the
quarter. However, the paying students have priority. This usually means the class will be full. If there is
an opening in the class on the sixth day, you are welcome to register.
5. Do I have to come to campus at any time?
No. All activities, including exams, are done online.
6. I will be out of the country during the quarter. How will that effect my taking the class?
It will have no effect. You can complete all activities, including exams, if you have a computer
and a good internet connection. If you do not have these, it is best not to take a distance learning class.
7. How can I get started before the class begins?
I suggest waiting until the course begins to avoid any confusion.
8. Where can I get the syllabus?
The final syllabus is available on the class website the first day of class, which is the same as on
campus classes.
