Professor Tracy Slagter, USP Director – background USP give updates ensuring constant student input. Surveys regular reporting to OSA, most of you never fall 2013 USP general education misinformed just called that have to take them anywhere overtime will set Oshkosh apart introductory classes built in mechanisms to find out if we are doing what we need to do. Quest III out to the community engagement certain majors, employers what the USP will make uncomfortable – designed to evolve big changes after we hear from students, instructors, issues with transfer students we changed it in a semester as it was not serving the students good relationships with if it does not serve the students we have to change it, registry, USP Faculty Senate committee, regular relationship with OSA students need senate help, set aside nationwide need student support, we need OSA to work with us on this. Hagen: not out of Wibis there is a signature question, three signature questions, three responsibilities civic engagement, more choice, how difficult it is to find out what signature question it is, working to make the signature question it is. Do you have to take, three quests are they all different signature questions, each of the quest classes is taught through the lens of a different signature questions. Schiedemeyer: is there any way to unpaired sections honors and other, more flexibility so scheduling can be done easier, makes it harder makes scheduling a night mare, much more unpaired section. Advanced composition, problem solving every Thursday morning how do we fix this without compromising the great. Peer mentors only came in twice different, go the extra mile. Working on and working with the faculty dive in and help train the Peer mentors b. Vice Chancellor of Administrative Services, Tom Sonnleitner – Rec Plex not completed this year, as a result helps with parking, Axel tech has been sold. Lincoln Hall status quo. Hagen: Are there other projects that will be on hold? Answer: Reeve and Fletcher hoping to move them forward but may be some delay. Building commission meeting in March will go to Madison to do battle to make sure our projects are on the list will keep students and VC Roter informed. c. Mary Ellen, USA Today App offered up to 11 schools have the app. UW Oshkosh will be a test school for adding additional newspapers, calendar feature on the app in development and she will keep OSA updated. Waiting for analytics of downloads for the app. VII. Officer Reports – a. OSA Directors – bi weekly reports, Hopper will send out email today or tomorrow and have monthly meetings. Grad student lounge on campus brought to GSA collaborate. b. OSA Office Manager – (Rae Ann - wetzelr@uwosh.edu) – March 10 & March 11 8 am – 8 pm OSA Elections, revamped OSA website check it out if you have time and inform me if there needs to be any changes c. OSA Advisor – (Petra – roterp@uwosh.edu) – d. OSA Academic Liaison – (Crystal - buss@uwosh.edu) – working on revamping the website and updates to bylaws, retitling positions in HR to have four levels professional academic staff. e. Speaker Pro-Tempore –( – osaspeakerpt@uwosh.edu) - vacant f. Speaker of the Assembly – (Nicole – osaspeaker@uwosh.edu) – speaker protemps one person nominated, exciting elections g. Vice President Pro-Tempore – (Lindsey - osavppt@uwosh.edu) – two committees parking appeals still Feb 16 at 9:20, change in work schedule for her so will be a seat vacant on Pepsi committee, free food at the committee, Senator Stepanek is on it h. Vice President – (Graham – osavp@uwosh.edu) – Student Rep meeting this weekend, leaving Friday night meeting with Kathy Thursday from University Books at 9:45 am in OSA office to discuss text book rental, polar plunge on Feb 21, OSA retreat to recap this year and pass on to next exec board. Would like to see Titan Dollars to be able to spend at local businesses. i. President – (Jordan - osapres@uwosh.edu) – loss of Senator College of Business and Letters and Science fair game bus contract change Kobussen instead of Lamers. Would like a meeting with each of you to discuss wishes and goals for the remaining time as senator. VIII. Presidential Appointments – OSA 14-019 BE IT RESOLVED: That the OSA Senate and Assembly approved the following Presidential Appointments and/or recommendations: 1. UWO Insurance and Risk Management Club Sponsored by: Nicole Lehto, Speaker of Assembly Dispense Motion to move to floor Winkelman, 2nd by Hopper Discussion - Professors working on insurance managers to speak to the club and help promote the minor. Winkelman: will you be requesting allocated funds. Answer: no Meyer: When are the club meetings? Answer: next couple weeks in a week or two, and follow up question Will your club be a part of the COB weekly newsletters? Answer: Don’t know but will find out. Mitchell: Who is your faculty advisor? Unfinished Business – none New Business – SS 14-032 BE IT RESOLVED: The OSA Senate approves the OSA Election Bylaws. Sponsor: Election Commissioner, Steven Thompson Dispense Motion to suspend rules to vote on same day by Thompson, 2nd by Hopper, passed voice vote Changed the dates when the new senate will resume office in May instead of 15 days after senate passes the Election Commission report, contradicting info when preliminaries to Election Commissioner are released, points instead of percentage. Motion to change 500 to 100 in 8.5 for valid signature by Dennis, 2nd by Boruke, passed, no objections, no abstentions (02/03/15) Motion to change the time a referendum is due to the same time as statement of candidacy in 4.4 by Fath, 2nd by Hagen, passed, no objections, no abstentions (02/03/15) XI. Committee Reports – Green fund will be meeting to look over applications, fill out the Doodle. XII. Discussion – a. 2013 Bill – Senator Gudex – An Act to amend 36.09 (3) a and 36.09 (5) relating to Chancellor authorizing regarding University of Wisconsin student fees still policy in place to appeal. UW Lacrosse take away in consultation student fee amendment that the tax payers have to know bylaws allocations and seg fees nothing changes for us b. UW Oshkosh Segregated Fees Methodology & Procedure Review – seg fees how it works change and signed for new chancellor, need him to sign this. Non allocated fees protected by academic can move dollars wherever he wants to, ridiculous that much authority but some limits without bypassing everyone, we need him to sign it due to the budget cut emergency situation could bypass the policy. c. UW System Budget Discussion – exec board for student reps 300 million cut. Press Release official statement 300 million don’t know specifics 7 to 7.5 million for two years, hiring freeze in place most likely a huge layoff, members should not finalize a budget for this. Public authority – Ray cross and walker public authority come 2017 the state would have no say in what happens on campus, group of unelected building project no limit on power OSA could be no 36.09 (5), read press release consider employee layoffs d. Greek expansion committee - on it students has more idea if they want to do this recognized by OSA committee, IFC and Panhellenic one time a year walk the person through the steps national organization Greek life office different steps and procedures. Thompson: Look into the current procedure that IFC and Panhellenic Council follow, do not feel need OSA committee to do this. XIII.
