Overall Purpose of the LAG The Vale of Glamorgan Local Action Group are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the RDP 2014-2020 in the Vale of Glamorgan, developing and delivering the Local Development Strategy for this period. Main Responsibilities of a LAG Member To ensure that the Lead Body and delivering bodies and its representatives function within the legal and regulatory framework set out by the Welsh Government. To develop a Local Development Strategy for 2014-2020 addressing appropriate the needs and opportunities in the area with regards to these specific themes. 1. Adding value to local identity and natural and cultural resources 2. Facilitating pre-commercial development, business partnerships and short supply chains 3. Exploring new ways of providing non-statutory local services 4. Renewable energy at Community level 5. Exploitation of digital technology To develop and oversee the delivery of projects under this LDS Ensure that the LDS strategically fits with local and national priorities and maximises use of other external funding sources. Be an advocate for the LAG and its work. Be an advocate for the Leader approach to regeneration. Main Duties of a LAG Member Attend quarterly meetings of the LAG. Active participation in project design and on-going direction. Make decisions on the allocation of funds. Procure delivery bodies for rural projects. Publicise the work of the LAG Make unbiased decisions that fulfil the aims and objectives of the LDS. Act in the best interest of the beneficiaries of the LDS Engage with those that you represent in order to gather their views on rural projects Maximise the involvement of those that you represent in rural projects Share information from the LAG with those that you represent. Maintaining sound financial management of RDP funds Monitoring and evaluation programme outcomes Adhere to the terms of reference of the Local Action Group (TBC by LAG once formed)
