Cash Balance Model
To determine optimal cash levels to meet the demand
for cash at minimum total discounted cost.
Too much cash  opportunity loss of not being able to
earn higher returns by buying securities.
Too little cash  will incur higher transaction costs
when securities are sold to meet the cash demand.
