The Hare and the Tortoise
Later, The Hare woke up and ran towards the finish line. “I win. I win. I
win!” said the Hare as she crossed the line.
The Hare thought she was the fastest animal alive and she challenged her
friends, a fox, a tortoise and a badge, to a race.
“Slow and steady wins the race” said the Tortoise.
On the day of the race only the Tortoise turned up as the other animals
were fed up with the hare’s bragging.
After a while, Hare stopped for a sleep because she was so far ahead
she was sure she would win.
The Tortoise passed the sleeping Hare without a sound and walked quietly
through the winners tape.
But then she saw the Tortoise holding the trophy and she couldn’t believe
her eyes.
On the start line, “You will never beat me!” said the Hare to the
Tortoise. “You are just TOO slow!”
When the judge said “GO!” the hare shot off leaving the Tortoise just
trundling along behind.
