SCULPTURE GARDEN DEDICATION The formal dedication of the Frazier Sculpture Garden will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8, in the garden located just west of the Watson Technical Center on the Temple College campus. The unveiling of the sculpture "Fleeting Moments" by Belton artist Rex Murrah will be a highlight of the ceremony. The Frazier Sculpture Garden honors Garnett and Ann Frazier who started the computer department at Temple College almost 40 years ago. Mrs. Frazier and other members of the family will be special guests for the ceremony. The Frazier Sculpture Garden is a 75th anniversary project of the TC Landscape Committee. The garden features native plants and flowers with accent rocks and benches. The Towkana Chapter of the Texas Native Plant Society and Bell County Master Gardeners assisted with the installation of the garden area. The 8-foot sculpture is polished stainless steel spirals on a sandblasted stainless steel base. Designed and built by Rex Murrah, the sculpture was fabricated at Materials Transportation Co. with technical assistance by MTC employees. This will be the third outdoor sculpture displayed in Temple. The other two are located at the Cultural Activities Center and Scott and White. Murrah is a graduate of Belton High School and received an associate of arts degree from Temple College where he studied art with Michael Donahue and Amy Smith. He received a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and is currently working as a painter and portrait artist. He has won numerous awards for his art work including cash prizes at the Central Texas Art Competition held each year at Temple College. He and Amy Rawlings were the principal artists for the Lake Belton mural. He also painted the mural on the wall at the Candy Corner at Temple Mall and helped with the art work for the living gallery at UMHB. Refreshments will be served after the ceremony which is open to the public.
