Leopards beat UMHB JV The Temple Daily Telegram reports that Temple college beat the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Monday night at TC Gym. Guard Sam Mercedes and forward Lawrence Ramsey each scored 16 points and guard Bennie Tate scored all 13 of his after halftime as the Leopards beat UMHB 98-85 for their third straight win. Oliver led all scorers with 29 points, and teammate Kelly Lewis, a freshman guard from Temple, had 19. TC (6-2) got 14 and 12 points from forwards Jermaine Green and Brandon Washington, respectively. “Mary Hardin-Baylor came out and shot really well in the first half,” said TC coach Kirby Johnson, whose team came back to beat 11th-ranked and previously undefeated Trinity Valley Community College 96-92 at home Saturday night. “Not to take anything away from them, but it was a little tough for us to get up for this one tonight.” The Leopards will get seven days off before playing Brookhaven next Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at TC Gym.
