OIE Global Citizen Awards
Muneeb Kamal International Student of the Year
2015
Purpose: This award honors and recognizes outstanding contributions to international understanding by
CU-Boulder international students.
Eligibility: Consideration for this award shall be given to current CU-Boulder international students who:
 are in the U.S. in a non-immigrant student status (e.g. F-1 or J-1)
 are global citizens and inspire global citizenship in others
 Have made exemplary contributions to enrich the campus culturally and further international
understanding. This could consist of academic research, extra-curricular campus activities, and/or
community involvement abroad or in the U.S. (such as with school programs, civic group programs,
or service projects). Normally, recipients have made contributions in more than one area.
(The nominee must be on campus for Fall 2015 in order to be considered for an award.)
Awards: The recipient will be presented with a gift card award of $100. The awards ceremony will be held
at the International Education Week reception on November 18, 2015 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Application Process: Any CU-Boulder faculty, staff, student or affiliate can nominate a CU-Boulder
international student for the award.
To nominate a student, please submit the following documents:
 a completed nomination form
 a statement outlining in what ways the student is a global citizen, and how s/he has made contributions
to further international understanding. For the purpose of this award, OIE defines a global citizen as
someone who has heightened understanding of international matters (cultural, educational, economic,
political or other) and who acts to promote increased understanding and cooperation between peoples
of different countries and cultures.
 optional: an additional letter of support from another reference who can address the candidate’s
involvement in activities pertinent to the eligibility criteria.
 if possible, a resume or curriculum vitae from the student
Application deadline: All application materials must be received by the Office of International Education by
5:00 p.m. on October 2, 2015. For additional information, please contact the Office of International
