Design Your Own Piece Your design must represent the Elements and Principles of Design (see Haiku page or my website) -Elements: color, shape, and line -Principles: balance, proportion, emphasis, rhythm, gradation, transition, opposition, radial arrangement, harmony Inspiration Photo: Can be anything that inspires you; person, clothing, line of clothing from a designer, flower, building, pattern, song, etc… Must be printed in color unless your photo is specifically black and white. Sketch/Drawing of you garment: full color, accessories, hair, and make-up. It needs to be an entire look. Must be done on a 9-head croquis. (be careful what you design, it needs to be made in a timely manner). You can sketch a full outfit and only make the top or bottoms. Write Up: Write a one page write up about your design. Discuss: how your garment meets the Elements and Principles of Design how your inspiration is evident in your piece who your target audience is where your person would be wearing this outfit explain why you chose the accessories, make-up, and hair style Create Your Piece: Sew the portion of your garment you plan to make. You can create the garment from scratch or alter an existing garment. Feel free to mix different fabrics. If you choose to alter an existing garment it must be a dramatic change.
