University of Manitoba CLOSED CIRCUIT TELEVISION SYSTEM (CCTV) Req. # 1.1 Section 16765 Page 1 RELATED WORK .1 Basic Electrical Materials and Methods .2 Communication Raceway Section 16050 Section 16701 1.2 DESCRIPTION OF SYSTEM .1 The system shall provide closed circuit color TV monitoring system. System shall include all hardware, cabling, mounting accessories and terminal cabinets. .2 The system shall be a multiple camera system with all camera signals being monitored. .3 System shall be designed in consultation with Tom Moyle at (204)474-9526 and Chris Bohonis (204)474-8630, at University of Manitoba. 1.3 OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE DATA .1 Provide operation and maintenance data for incorporation into Maintenance Manuals. .2 Include in operations and maintenance data: .1 Details of design elements, construction features, component function maintenance requirements to permit effective start-up, operation, maintenance, repair, modification, extension and expansion of any portion or feature of installation. .2 Technical data produce data, supplemented by bulletins, component illustrations, exploded views, technical descriptions of items, and parts lists. Advertising or sales literature not acceptable. .3 Wiring and schematic diagrams and performance curves. .4 Names and addresses of local suppliers for items included in the Maintenance Manuals. 1.4 MAINTENANCE MATERIALS .1 Provide maintenance materials in accordance with Section 16050. 1.5 CARE, OPERATION AND START-UP .1 Instruct operating personnel in the operation, care and maintenance of equipment. .2 Arrange and pay for the services of the manufacturer’s factory service technician to supervise start-up of installation, check, adjust, balance and calibrate components, as needed. .3 Provide these services for such period, and for as many visits as necessary to put equipment in operation, and ensure that the operating personnel are conversant with all aspects of its care and operation. .4 Do a final cleaning prior to turnover to remove dust, dirt, etc., from cameras, lenses, housings, monitors, etc. 1.6 SHOP DRAWING MAINTENANCE DATA AND SAMPLES .1 Submit shop drawings and product data in accordance with Section 16050. .2 Indicate details of construction, dimension capacities, weights and electrical performance characteristics of equipment or material. .3 Include wiring diagrams showing interconnection of all elements of system. 1.7 VERIFICATION .1 Verify and test the CCTV security system to the satisfaction of the Owner or his representative for all elements of the system. .2 Furnish a Verification Report confirming that each camera unit is in operating condition, and properly being monitored at the designated monitor, and has been installed to manufacturer’s instructions. 1.8 MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT .1 Equipment and materials shall be CSA certified, and manufactured to standard quoted. .2 Equipment specified in this specification is based on a typical manufacturer. If another equipment manufacturer is to be proposed, submit and demonstrate at the Consultant’s offices that the given system is equal or better in performance than what is specified. Factory assemble control panels and component assemblies. 1.9 GUARANTEE .1 Guarantee the satisfactory operation of all work and equipment supplied and installed as part of this section of the specifications for a period of 24 months from date of acceptance. The guarantee/warranty period shall commence from the date of the final Certificate of Completion which is not necessarily the date of interim inspection. 1.10 ON-SITE INSTRUCTION .1 The CCTV system supplier shall provide two 4-hour sessions of on-site instruction to familiarize personnel with the operational techniques and procedures for the system. The time frame for the instructional sessions shall be selected at a time convenient to the Owner. 2.1 CCTV CAMERAS .1 As required. 2.2 INSTALLED CABLING .1 Video cabling to/from the voice-data room or runs between different rooms shall be Belden 8281B (Blue) coax or equivalent FT-4 100% shielded coax. .2 Video cabling internal to rooms shall be Belden 8241 coax. 3.1 INSTALLATION .1 Terminate all cabling in approved boxes. All equipment noted as rack mounted shall be installed in existing racks. .2 Include in tender price for testing, commissioning and training of Owner’s representative on proper use of the system. .3 Submit a Verification and Test Report certifying every element of the system is operational and in good condition. .4 Submit Operation and Maintenance Manuals for the system. .5 Provide 120V AC power from emergency circuits for the monitors, switchers, etc., as required. 3.2 CAMERAS .1 Install camera mounting brackets and connect to cabling system. .2 Install cameras and adjust pan and tilt to achieve optimum viewing angle. .3 Install video cable and connectors. Provide suitable protection for all exposed cables at cameras. 3.3 MONITOR CONSOLE .1 Shall suit. 3.4 TESTING AND ADJUSTMENT .1 Adjust cameras and monitors to provide peak performance. .2 Test and demonstrate operation during daytime and nighttime conditions. .3 Test and demonstrate operation of all controls.
