Blanton Fifth Grade Look What We’re Learning… Language Arts: We will begin to take a closer look at nonfiction text by analyzing text features and text structures. Math: We will be problem solving with whole numbers and decimals. Science: We will take our Matter Report Card Assessment and then begin our Forces and Energy Unit by learning about the types and uses of energy. Social Studies: We will study the Gold Rush to see how geography affected how the country was settled. What’s Going On in 5th Grade? Please know that every day is an instructional day in 5th grade, even on party days and Fridays! We have implemented a regular time for intervention and motivation on Fridays this year that we call Fun Fridays. During this time, we work on select skills with prioritized groupings, whether for acceleration or for enrichment. In addition, we are able to give an extra Recess time as a reward earned all week for maintaining good behavior and staying on top of assignments. We want your child to want to be here for this time as well, as he has earned it! Your 5th Grade teachers want to make the best use of every moment we have with your child. Attendance Matters!
