Short Story Rubric

Below is the rubric you will follow for your short story. It must be a minimum of
180 words. You may hand write it or type it. Each number is worth 10pts. Have
fun! I’m excited to read your imaginative stories.

Lead – Remember to grab my attention.
Characters – physical traits, actions, idiosyncrasies, and dialogue.
Background info- Tell me information about your character’s background.
Details – “Show not tell.” As the reader, I can’t see what you see as the
writer. You have to show me with words. Imagery!
5. Figurative Language - Use a simile, metaphor, hyperbole, or alliteration in
your story.
6. It is organized like a story map.
7. A problem or conflict is introduced in the beginning of your story.
