Health Science Truancy Policy Purpose: Truancy is defined as leaving the observation site without direct permission from the Health Science Instructor or unapproved absences at the observation site. A student may not leave the observation site unless authorization has been received from the home campus, and the Health Science Instructor has been notified of early release. Reasons for leaving the observation site must be approved by the instructor prior to leaving. In the event that a student is considered truant, the student’s Assistant Principal will be notified immediately and disciplinary actions will begin. Consistent disregard of the truancy policy will result in the student being removed from hospital rotations. All disciplinary actions become a permanent part of their school record.
