Be in your assigned seat and working on the bell ringer when the bell rings! Come in ready to follow class procedures. Begin the morning assignment that will be posted on the front board. Make sure all pencils are sharpened before the bell. What materials do I need for class? Required in class EVERY day: Binder with loose paper and dividers Pencil Agenda English Journal Novel May be used for learning WITH teacher permission: Device Headphones How should I behave in the classroom? Summary: 1. I can speak my mind, share ideas, and take care of my personal needs at the appropriate times as long as it does not cause a problem for anyone. This includes myself, my classmates, and my teacher. 2. My teacher will teach when there are no problems. My teacher does not speak over students. 3. During class discussions, my teacher listens to students who raise their hand and to one person at a time. 4. I will be asked to work with my teacher and/or classmates to solve my own problems. 5. If I have a problem, I can raise my hand and whisper to let my teacher know we need to talk later OR quietly write a note to leave on my teacher’s desk. What should I do if I am absent from English class? Notes Progress reports will go out every six weeks and report cards every nine weeks. o Grades will be broken down as follows: Minor Summative Assessments= 40% Major Summative Assessments = 60% Students will be allowed to re-take major summative assessments if they wish. The student will need to fill out a request to retest form with the teacher and have it signed by a parent. All assignments are turned in to the appropriate tray for your class period in the turn in bin located at the front of the class by the door. I will use my agenda EVERY DAY to record assignments and homework in all core classes. If possible, notify me as soon as you know you are going to be absent. You get one day for every day absent plus one extra day to complete work that you missed. Check the make-up work folders at the front of the classroom for any assignments you may have missed while you were out. THIS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY!
