4th Grade Newsletter Week of August 31, 2015 Look What We’re Learning . . . Language Arts – Students will complete individual reading inventory for reading level. Students will read and respond in class. Writing-Students will complete narrative preassessment. Students will communicate a clear message using focused ideas and information in their writing. Students will review adjectives, adverbs and prepositional phrases. Spelling-Students will learn the six syllable types and learn to spell compound words using Vocabulary Building Blocks. Social Studies –Students will identify and describe the regions in Texas. Math –This week students will use a problem solving model to analyze information, formulate a plan, determine a solution, justify the solution and evaluate for reasonableness. Students will also round numbers to the nearest ten, hundred, thousand and ten thousand; understand place value to 1,000,000,000; and read and represent decimals in tenths and hundredths. Science –This week students will explore tools for measuring and identify physical properties of matter.
