RACE SURVEY INSTRUCTIONS
Purpose:
Students will create a 10 question survey designed to measure attitudes of Red
Mountain students and/or staff. All questions will be statements that
respondents must answer with an ‘agree’ or ‘disagree’.
Requirements:
1. All surveys start with the statement:
a. White Americans have advantages over non-white Americans in the US
today.
2. All surveys must be turned in with a chart showing the number of ‘agrees’
and ‘disagrees’ with each question.
3. All charts must be signed by a parent or trusted adult mentor with the
statement ‘I have discussed the results of this survey with ____________.’
Also, Please include the following statement at top of survey:
I am a student in Mr. Leverington’s sociology course. This is an anonymous survey. We are
measuring attitudes regarding race at Red Mountain. None of these statements are intended
to be offensive, they are simply designed to measure students and teachers attitudes
regarding race in America today.
