Arizona Government Lesson Plan Project PURPOSE: Your group will research and create a lesson plan centered around one topic dealing with Arizona Government or Arizona History. TOPICS: Arizona Territorial Government and Arizona’s Application for Statehood (Process AZ went through to become a state) Unique parts of the AZ Constitution: (Article 18, Section 2 Child Labor / Article 25Right to Work / Article 28- English Language / Find 2 other things you think are interesting) Arizona’s Declaration of Rights (Section 2 of AZ Constitution) (Choose 5 rights to emphasize) Referendums and Initiatives Article 4 Part 1 Section 1 Arizona’s Legislative Branch Arizona Tribal Governments / Tribal Sovereignty / Relations between AZ govt and Tribal govts. Optional: Arizona Indian Boarding Schools Arizona’s Executive Branch (must include the 6 executive offices for AZ) Arizona Juvenile Justice System -Optional: Look at history of Arizona State Industrial School for juveniles Arizona’s Judicial Branch Create your own topic. Propose it to me for approval. It must deal with Arizona Government or Arizona history. ASSIGNMENT: Create a 10 - 15 minute lesson plan that you will present on Wednesday for the class. Your lesson plan template is on the back of this page. You must have: 1. A written introduction to the lesson that discusses the topic and purpose. 2. Either a presentation on the computer or a handout that the students can use/keep. If you create a handout, give me a copy and I will photo copy it for the class. (limit it to 2 pages, 1 page front and back) 3. Follow up discussion questions (2 - 3 that are meant to be discussed with class) 4. 4-5 possible test questions that are multiple choice or matching.
