GENERAL RULES: Bring all necessary materials to class each day. Required Texts: a. D’Accord Level II b. Filler Paper for notes and daily activities F → R→ E → N→ C→ H→ Fun … Have fun and enjoy your learning of French! Respect ... Your teacher, your classmates and the room! Enjoy … Have a positive attitude when you walk in the class! Now … Be ready for class, hand work in time, study every day! Collaborate … Work and speak with other people! Help … Help each other during class activities CONDUCT: 1. Listen to all instructions and directions carefully and follow them the first time. If repetition is needed, ask in French. 2. Be respectful at all times. This means no talking, teasing, put downs, or inappropriate comments. We are all learning together and mistakes are a fact of life. Encourage and be helpful; do not belittle. Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself. All school rules apply! 3. Display a positive attitude! Learning another language and another culture require you to be open to new things. Do your best to smile and enjoy French! 4. PARTICIPATE! To earn an “A” in participation in this class, expect to be speaking French both to me and to your classmate. 5. Gum, eating and drinking will not be tolerated. YOU CAN’T SPEAK FRENCH WITH GUM. 6. You must arrive on time for class EVERYDAY. You are expected to come with a pass from a teacher or a guidance counselor anytime you are late. Failure to come without a pass will result on an unexcused tardy. Three unofficial tardies will result in a 30-minute teacher detention to be served at MY CONVENIENCE. 7. All tests and quizzes must be made up after school or during Resource time in the Lingo Lab ( room 227). You have two days to make it up for each day you were absent. 8. Dishonesty, including copying, cheating and plagiarism, will result in a zero and an office referral for academic dishonesty. ** THE USE OF TRANSLATION PROGRAMS IS CONSIDERED CHEATING! NO CREDIT WILL BE GIVEN FOR QUESTIONABLE WORK! If IN DOUBT, ASK!** HOMEWORK: 1. You are expected to check the board or the website for your homework assignments. Assignments will be checked and recorded at the start of the next class session, unless otherwise notified. Late homework is not accepted, except in the case of absence according to school policy. 2. If you were absent, you may check “ Aspen” our online gradebook available through the school’s website for any work missed ( due to an excused absence) or my website: http://www.nhvweb.net/nhhs/worldlanguage/pchukrallah/ 3. Cuts: You will not be allowed to make up any quiz or test administered on a day where you have a cut in French class. You will be assigned a grade of “0” 4. Substitute assignments: All work assigned on a day of my absence is due the following day. This work WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED LATE. 5. I DON’T GIVE EXTRA CREDIT!!!!! You will have enough opportunities to succeed in this class. CHROMEBOOKS: You are allowed to take notes on your Chromebook. Only one window should be opened at a time. If you get caught once playing games or doing anything BUT taking notes, you won’t be allowed to use your Chromebooks for notes. GRADING POLICY: Your French grade will be weighted: a. IPAs, quizzes, projects, oral presentations, (60 points) b. Homework (20 pts) c. Participation (20 pts) CLASSROOM PARTICIPATION: Your participation in class will influence your foreign language grade. As you learn a new language, the only way to master it is to USE it! *** Read the participation rubric carefully! *** EXTRA HELP: 1. Any student who desires extra help should see me before or after class to arrange a schedule. I am more than happy to work with all of my students after school. 2. French Honor Society tutors will be available almost every day from 2:30 to 3:00 p.m. in Room 222. Please see the calendar on the door in Room 222 to sign up for a time slot I have received and read the Guidelines and Procedures for Mrs. Chukrallah’s French Class.
