Measuring Stresses of a Stented
Coronary Artery in Transient Analysis
using Computational Modeling
Team Members:
Stephen Biederman, Daniela Urdaneta, Jason Weiskopf
Advisor: Dr. Pavlos Vlachos, PhD
Our Goal: A parametric study of different stent parameters
in transient analysis after stent implementation
Final Deliverable: A new stent design based on results of
solid deformation simulations
Project Deliverables:
•
Novel stent design based on structural stress test results
varying the three mechanical stent characteristics of strut
curvature, stent thickness, and strut spacing
•
Finite element modeling framework for further research
into stent design optimization
Project Methods:
•
Use Finite Element Solver ANSYS to
measure structural deformations caused
by a pulsatile pressure wave through a
stented cylindrical artery model
