The goal of this project is to develop a powered ankle-foot
orthotic which is adaptable to a large number of users without
modification to the design for each user.

Key Features:
Uses air-pressure driven bladders that contract upon inflation
to amplify muscle power
Uses a subject’s EMG signal to control the amount of
additional muscle power provided
Deliverables:
Fully constructed powered foot-ankle orthotic device
User friendly LabView control system
Test results showing force-pressure relationships and time
delay of muscle
Preliminary test results showing how added muscle power
effects an individual’s ability to recover from a fall
