Battery Packaging Design for a Ford Escape Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle Conversion Team Members: Chris Calhoun, Mark Spieldenner, Joe Callahan Advisor: Dr. Jack Lesko The goal of this project is to convert a Hybrid Ford Escape to a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle, through a collaborative effort with the Town Of Blacksburg, VPT-ES, and students from the Electrical Engineering, and Engineering Science and Mechanics Department. The main contribution from the ESM team is the design of a thermally efficient battery packaging unit able to withstand forces of up to 3 G’s.
